I stand in the advancing light,
my hands hungry, the world beautiful.

My eyes can't get enough of the trees—
they're so hopeful, so green.

A sunny road runs through the mulberries,
I'm at the window of the prison infirmary.

I can't smell the medicines—
carnations must be blooming nearby.

It's this way:
being captured is beside the point,
the point is not to surrender.

heres a better attempt at my entry-

i have pnemonia, not asthma

either way,

they're both spelled different than you would guess

and i think that in itself says a little something about my guessing skills (SO CLOSE!)

also, i have a splitting head ache right now.

im a little disappointed in the aleve i took about 20 minutes ago.

i mean jesus, its not even trying

OH MY GOD STOP EVERYTHING!

i cant even believe i forgot to say this sooner-

my mom bought me a humidifier today

A HUMIDIFIER THAT LOOKS LIKE A PENGUIN!

my mom is the best.

also, i figure i should also mention that dani brought me home a little stuffed hippo with fat legs

because im sick

...and because shes in love with me

i promptly named him jonathan. he is now sitting in a cubby hole in my desk.

yeah, the aleve really sucks though.

stephanie hooked me up with sour cherry laffy taffy.

do YOU have a friend that does that?

probably not.

and if you do,

its probably stephanie.

i got a house.

its on 151st and blackfoot, if you want to come over and see me...

or my roommates, which is what most people usually come over for.

in any event, im pretty sure i have asthma.

or, im just dying.

its been a while.

and it was a while before that, too.

i found out im not getting kicked out of school, so good for me i guess.

im sitting in a room that smells just like christmas

i hope you all get a chance to smell it sometime.

also, im sort of depressed lately.

also also, i think i might get a puppy.

he would not be depressed.

ive got a couple trips lined up for the next year that im pretty excited about.

everyone i know and love is leaving within the next year

even people that i hardly know,

or that hardly know i love them-

they'll all be gone soon enough.

in any event, life goes on and on and on
